What We Believe

Our teachings can be summed up in the words of the Apostle's Creed

I BELIEVE IN GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, maker of heaven and earth.

AND IN JESUS CHRIST, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.  He descended into hell.   The third day He rose again from the dead.   He ascended into heaven and  sits at the  right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the  dead.

I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. AMEN.

Our Core Values

Centrality of Christ - the proclamation of the gospel of Christ is of the utmost essence.  We must make sure that He is at the center of all that we are and all that we do.  He is the only way of salvation for humanity.

The Scriptures - We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.  Its truths are as valid today as the day that they were written.  It is our norm for doctrine and teaching. It is our guide for living out the Christian life.

Confessional Lutheranism - Our doctrinal basis is one of confessional Lutheranism.  Our Biblical faith is summarized in the Book of Concord.  We subscribe to this because it correctly sets forth the teachings of the scriptures.

Worship - We gather together to praise our God through corporate worship.  Our worship life is centered in the incarnate and the written word.  Our worship time is also a place where we pray and where the Sacraments are celebrated and distributed.   We use a variety of styles in worship.

Christian Education - Growths in the truths and the Scriptures and how the Word applies to our lives is highly valued by us.  Thus various Bible studies are offered throughout the course of the year.

Mission work out side of our congregation - We support through prayer and monetary offerings the work of the Alberta-British Columbia District, Lutheran Church - Canada, and the Concordia Lutheran Mission Society.

Mission Work Locally - We value the sharing of the Gospel through outreach programs and activities sponsored by our congregation. We strive to be an Evangelistic centered congregation.

Fellowship - The family of God is to be a family. As such we have activities to help us get to know and enjoy one another's company.

Multi-lingual Ministry - Our current church life is carried out in English but , as the Lord leads, we are open to beginning ministry among other language groups.

Multi-site Ministry - Our church life is not just centered around a building, but is carried out in the communities of Chilliwack and Hope.

Training of Leaders - In order for the church to grow and function effectively, we need to have solid leadership. Leadership training is highly valued at our congregation so that people can use their talents to the glory of God.

Lay Involvement - We encourage men and woman, boys and girls to be involved in the life of our parish. This is done by utilizing their spiritual gifts, in accordance with Biblical role guidelines, that they may serve their Lord.
